For her sabbatical project at College of the Desert (2006-07) Ruth Nolan has co-authored, with colleague and natural resource specialist Kurt Leuschner, also of College of the Desert, a birding and nature trail map for the Coachella Valley, Santa Rosa/San Jacinto Mountains, Joshua Tree, Salton Sea, and Anza Borrego Desert areas.
The map, completed and released in February 2008, designates 10 areas, and is available for viewing at the Friends of the Desert Mountains website:

Copies of the map are available by contacting the Friends at their website and at the Santa Rosa/San Jacinto Mountains National Park Visitor Center located in Palm Desert, CA.
The 10 birding/nature trail designations are as follows:

3. Indian Canyons - Tahquitz Canyon
4. Mt. San Jacinto State Park
